Basic Maplestory Beginners' Help
Are you a noob on Maplestory? Well, don't worry. Everyone was once. Here is a guide that covers the basics on Maplestory.
Downloading the Game
To play Maplestory, you must have a Windows XP or Vista (although XP works better) and about 1G space.
Go to the Maplestory website. Click on North America (Global). On the left-hand side, there is a box that says "Free! Maplestory DOWNLOAD". Click on that. On the screen, there is a "Beginner Version". To me, that version is really pointless. So scroll down and click the "download" button that is under "Full Version". Click on save and name the file. The download usually takes a while, depending on the type of computer you have, but if you are impatient, download the RAR version. Click on each "part" and name each and save them. Each one takes about 2-3 minutes.
Make a Username and a Password:
Since the downloading takes a long time, this would be a good time to make your own character. Go to the Maplestory website and click Maplesotyr North America. Click on sign up and make your character. Remember your username and password.
Installation
After the downloading is complete, go to My Computer. Look for your saved file again. Double click on Maplestory Installation. I'm pretty sure you know what to do after this. It takes a while to explain it, so if you don't, go to another guide.
After the installation, there should be a shortcut on your desktop that goes to Maplestory. Double click on this. A window should pop up. At the bottom of this window, click "play". Wait for it to load. At the log in screen, type in your username and password and click on "log in". Make your own pin number, one that you can remember and isn't too obvious. After that, click on one of the worlds at the top of the screen. Scania is the one with the most people, so if you have a slow computer, I wouldn't suggest that one. Bera is a fairly good one, and so is Windia. After you choose, click on a channel. The meters show how full the channel is, so pick a channel that has a low meter.
Make Your Character
Now you get to make your character. Click on the "Create Character" sign. Pick male or female. Choose the outfit, hair, etc. When you have to choose the weapon, the axe is the best because it does the most dammage. Make a name for your character. On the right hand side is a dice. The dice determines what you want to be. The choices are thief, magician, bowman, and warrior. THIS PART IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! If you want to be a thief, roll the dice until you have a 4 or a five under int and a four or a five under strength. The rest is unimportant. If you want to be a magician, roll the dice until you have a four or a five under strength and a four or a five under dex. If you want to be a bowman, roll the dice until you have a four or a five under int and a four or a five under luk. If you want to be a warrior, roll the dice until you have a four or a five under luk and a four or a five under dex. Be patient. This determines how strong you will be. Again, THIS VERY IMPORTANT!!! Once you get what you want, click Create. Now you will be back at the character screen. Click on the sign post that says select character.
Congratulations! You can officially start playing.
How to be Good at Making Maplestory Mesos
Well, So you play Maplestory. I don't think you've come to see this guide because you're a high level person and you just want to laugh at the ‘noobs' that came to check this out. No, I believe that you need some help making mesos, levelling, or doing some random stuff. First, let's start with making maplestory mesos.
Making Mesos
First of all, remember to loot from your (or other people's) kills as much as you can. That's ONE way to make mesos. Another way is to buy NX, use it to purchase Gachapon tickets, and use it at popular sites such as NLC (New Leaf City), Henesys, or sometimes, if you feel lucky, Mushroom Shrine. I would go to NLC and Mushrooms Shire, since Henesys has far too many items to win, and the chance of getting a worthwhile one is slim. If you don't like that, go and buy some Maplestory iTCG packs (i recommend a lot of booster packs, unless you want to buy the starter pack) for codes. Enter the codes online in the cash shop to obtain items. They could be pets, use items, or quest items, which you can use with a variety of NPC's to get some sper-awesome (godly, maybe) items, such as Stormcaster gloves, facestompers, Astral Blade, and a ton of other wanted equips! Another way is to kpq (kerning city party quest) like hell and obtain a lot of ores, which you can go sell at the Free Market for some maple story mesos. If you feel like it, you can make some plates, jewels, or screws, which, usually, get more mesos then selling individual ores. You can also do quests, such as the Kerning City jump quests, for mesos, scrolls, equips, use items, or wanted etc. items. Sell those to make a fair bit of mesos. Another way is to cpq (carnival party quest) for Maple Coins (gold coins with a maple leaf on them) which you can in, in return for some good equips, which you can use, or sell.
Leveling
This isn't really a long tutorial like the one above, but it's a simple, clean (I think) guide to where to train at which levels.

Stay at Maple Island and do EVERY SINGLE quest, if possible.

mesos Making Tips
To easily make maplestory mesos from KPQ, just take as many ores as you can and sell them in the Free Market (FM) for any price that you think is good! Say, for steel ores, probably 300-1k each, which is an okay price. Sometimes you might get lucky and hit the jackpot! One time I sold 30 orihalcon ores at 3k each! Not bad, eh? And if you're finally level 30, but you're really, really, poor, just tell your party to wait a bit and go to the end of the sewers in Kerning City, your objective: to die. Then, return to your party and continue as usual. Do this as many times as you wish, and sooner or later, you'll probably get rich!
Other Stuff
Party training is always good, preferably with buddies, guild members, or people you enjoy being around with. Remember to do quests..xD Be always active, and try to have fun as much as possible, even if it means just talking and chillin' out with your friends for 5 hours without killing anything! Believe me, that can be VERY fun…xD especially if you meet somebody new….xD
Special thanks to legible for giving me maplestory powerleveling level 120-200! Thanks.
How to become a spearman in maplestory
So you want to become a spearman? Here are some advantages for being a spearman.
Pros-
1. Spearman gives large amount of magic points which warriors extremely lack.
2. The spearman favorite weapon, spears and pole arms have a long reach to attack monsters so now you can attack monsters without damaging too much of yourself.
3. Spearman have the strongest attack.
4. The skills for spearman can do many multi hits which results in massive damage.
5. The dragon knight(class after spearman)’ skills are very cool and useful. I mean seriously, with a name called dragon knight, shouldn’t their skills be extremely cool?
Cons-
• The spears and pole arms are slow.
• The spear and pole arms are two handed, this will means you cannot carry a shield and is going to cost you some defense.
• The range between lowest and greatest damage is very high. So sometimes you can hit 800 and sometimes you can only hit 30.
Now if you are really want to be a spearman, here should be your stat allotting.
First 5 into hp recovery, then max improving max HP increase. Then max slash blast or power strike. Endure is not useful but one point is fine. Iron body is completely useless, just ignore it.
To become a spearman, you have to become a warrior first, when you roll your dice, it is best to have 4 intelligence and 4 luck, 12 strength and 8 dexterity( I think, just try to get the least amount of intelligence and luck, get as high strength as possible with medium dexterity)you need at least 35 strength and level 10. Spend your time leveling in the beginning island, finish all quests and get to level 10. When you get ability points, put 3 points into strength and 2 into dexterity.
Kill snails then blue snails, red snails them orange mushrooms until you are level 10. fly out the island on the airship. Then fly to Perison on the airship, this time is free.
When you get there, talk to chief sitting bull and now you are a warrior.
From level 10 to 20, try killing slimes west or henesys. The slimes are easy to kill, if you run out of hp, jump on one of the haystacks to heal.
From level 20 to 25, I like killing green mushrooms on the top of the slimes, do the same thing with them.
From level 25 to 30, I like kill horned mushroom in the dungeon. It is in the middle of the map, the horned mushrooms are great for killing.
When you reach level 30, talk to sitting bull again, he will ask what do you want to be, choose spearman, he is going to tell you collect some dark marbles(or something else, can’t remember). You have to kill monsters for them, bring health and magic potion. When you collect 30 or them, give them to sitting bull and now you are a spearman!
MapleStory Job Description
Introduction to MapleStory
MapleStory is a free MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game), in which your part of a fantastic world full of creatures and opportunities to gain fame and glory. You can create a hero and decide what is going to be your class/job which you are going to evolve, each obstacle overcome.
The Game
First thing to do is create an account on www.maplestory.com. Now, the first time you log in you will have to set your PIN, which works like a password to protect your account.
Then you will have to create your character. You can set his or her look and the name. You can also see the value of your attributes. They are:
STR: Influences the strength of the attack on your character
DEX: You have a better chance of attacking your opponent
INT: Influences the strength of a magic attack
LUK: You have a better chance of deflecting an attack
Now that you know what each attribute stands for, choose their values wisely.
Jobs
Jobs are occupations that your character can have in the game, which influence health (HP), magic power (MP), skills, defense, attack, type of weapon wielded, etc. MapleStory has 4 initial Jobs:
Beginner
It’s the initial job. By creating a character, he automatically becomes a beginner until you do the job advancement to pick one of the four initial jobs. A beginner has nothing that really mather. He can’t wear almost any armor and can’t use only low level weapons.
Warrior
This is the recommended job for new players, because it is easy to make and fast to train. You can evolve to a warrior by being level 10 and having at least 35 STR points. A warrior can wield swords, axes, maces and spears, each one of those with specific characteristics like power and speed. A warrior needs high STR and average DEX, which means he should have INT and LUK at the least possible.
By reaching level 30, a warrior can choose to evolve to one of three other jobs, which will influence in his skills and stats during the game.
Fighter: Uses swords and axes, their attacks are fast, but not so much powerful.
Spear man: Uses spears and other long range weapons, their attacks are slow and strong. They have less HP that fighters and pages.
Page: Uses swords and maces, they have a great defense power, but their attacks are less powerful than the ones from the fighters and spear men.
When you reach level 70, you can become:
Crusader (Fighter’s evolution) – It is the strongest job but it loses more health.
White knight (Page’s evolution) – Has a lot of health and it’s very resistant to many attacks.
Dragon knight (Spear man’s evolution) – Their long attacks are perfect to kill bosses.
When you reach level 120, you can become:
Hero (Crusader’s evolution)
Paladin (White knight’s evolution)
Dark knight (Dragon knight’s evolution)
Magician
Magicians are very delicate. Not recommended for beginners. Magicians are very hard to train on and that’s because they need MP to attack and sometimes it ends fast if they attack too many times.Besides, they can’t expose to dangers, because of they low HP. But yet, he can attack from a distance and, if well trained, his attack can be very powerful.
By reaching level 30, a magician can choose to evolve to one of three other jobs, which will influence in his skills and stats during the game.
Wizard (Fire/Poison): They can poison enemies and do devastating magic. But they can not attack two or more enemies at the same time.
Wizard (Ice/Lightning): Their attack can cause many damage and freeze their enemies. They can attack two or more enemies at the same time but they spend too much MP to do that.
Clerics:They don’t care about destruction, but for healing and support. They are the only ones who can heal in MapleStory and still have attack power. But they are very fragile.
When you reach level 70, you can become:
Mage (Fire/Poison)
Mage (Ice/Light)
Priest: The evolution of the cleric can do a lot of damage on undead and summon dragons to help on fights.
When you reach level 120, you can become:
Arch Mage (Fire/Poison)
Arch Mage (Ice/Light)
Bishop
Bowman
A Bowman can take a lot of damage, but it’s unstable, so you don’t know if it is going to be a critical attack or one with very low damage.
By reaching level 30, a Bowman can choose to evolve to one of two other jobs, which will influence in his skills and stats during the game.
Hunter: With their amazing skill of dominating the bow and arrows, hunters have higher accuracy and speed than bowmen and they can attack various enemies at the same time, but their arrows don’t have much power.
Crossbow man:They use crossbows to defend themselves, their attacks are powerful and accurate, but not that fast.
When you reach level 70, you can become:
Ranger :They can attack an enemy with up to 4 arrows at the same time
Sniper :They can attack up to 6 enemies at the same time
When you reach level 120, you can become:
Bow Master
Marksman
Thief
Thieves use shurikens (long-range attack) and daggers (Melee attack). They can use their skills to provide them speed and fast attacks, and also they can escape if they are almost dying
By reaching level 30, a Thief can choose to evolve to one of two other jobs, which will influence in his skills and stats during the game.
Assassin:Fast, accurate and killer, they use shurikens as weapon, but prepare to spend a lot of mesos with them. They use shurikens like: Tobi, Kumbi, Mokbi, Subi, Ilbi, steel throwing knife…
Bandit: They use daggers as weapon making them fast, but fragile.
When you reach level 70, you can become:
Hermit: With their agility, they can cause damage even faster and help them financially.
Chief bandit: They are fast, powerful and have a lot of money. They can throw Mesos to the floor, making them explode and dealing damage to their enemies.
When you reach level 120, you can become:
Night Lord
Shadower
HAVE FUN!
